Job Description

The role of the Global Close Accountant involves ensuring the successful execution of close-related Record to Report (R2R) function tasks for legal entities within the LATAM region. This position requires coordination with multiple business partners and colleagues in other sub-towers responsible for close activities. Key responsibilities include preparing and submitting trial balances into HFM, tracking completion of close tasks, coordinating error clearing, and performing root-cause analysis.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the successful execution of close-related R2R function tasks to ensure proper and timely submission of various legal entity trial balances into HFM
  • Track and monitor completion of close tasks to ensure on-time submissions
  • Coordinate and perform error clearing and root-cause analysis / determine and implement corrective action
  • Research differences between the ledger and HFM
  • Submit trial balance and sales data
  • Maintain topside journal entry support
  • Perform foreign exchange revaluation
  • Prepare for and lead regional close calls
  • Prepare and distribute close communications to stakeholders
  • Support global close process tools including SAP Accelerated Financial Close (AFC) and MyJournals journal entry tool
  • Maintain records and supporting files and documentation in an organized manner
  • Effectively communicate to peers and management with regards to work tasks and deadlines
  • Identify issues proactively and communicate to manager along with potential range of solutions; Act as an initial informal point of escalation to resolve questions from junior colleagues
  • Review select activities of junior colleagues
  • Provide informal coaching to further develop junior colleagues
  • Begin to develop areas of expertise and process ownership of global and/or complex areas
  • Ensure activities are performed to a high standard of operational excellence, established service level agreements and deadlines are met, and adhere to defined GBS process and control requirements
  • Engage directly with all business partners on complex activities and deliverables; maintain effective relationships with business partners
  • Develop technical and business skills, ensuring effective and efficient use of time and competencies
  • Understand the functionality, interfaces and interdependencies of Pfizer's financial processes and systems
  • Maintain complete and accurate work instructions and SOX related internal control documentation; Support the Internal and External audits and SOX compliance initiatives
  • Ensure strong commitment to the control environment through training and review to meet all control and compliance requirements
