Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Procurement Planning Manager to join our team at Edwards Lifesciences. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for planning the procurement of materials required to support customer demand and new product introduction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Execute Production Schedule: Develop and execute the business unit production schedule from the master production schedule requirements with increased complexity and volume.
  • Manage Issues: Manage issues preventing execution of the MPS and production plan, including non-conforming materials or processes, material or equipment availability, and unplanned requirements.
  • Analyze Resource Availability: Analyze resource availability and develop short and mid-range capacity plans with manufacturing teams to ensure plans are met.
  • Generate Work Orders: Generate work orders using systems and manage work order progress, including working with production and other supporting departments to ensure production plans are met.
  • Provide Ship Schedule: Provide ship schedule to Supply Chain/Demand team.
  • Establish Inventory Targets: Establish and maintain gross inventory targets with a limited scope, including developing action plans to minimize inventory exposure and for scrapping or mitigating excess and obsolete parts based on business information.
  • Develop Cost Reduction Improvements: Develop and identify cost reduction process improvements.
  • Procure Materials: Plan materials requirements and procure materials to support production schedules and new product launches with increased complexity and volume.
  • Resolve Obstacles: Resolve obstacles to meeting the schedule, including resolving issues with non-conforming material, unclear specifications, or vendor capacity constraints.
  • Expedite Purchase Orders: Expedite purchase orders as required, including expediting material from the receiving dock through receiving inspection to production stores.
  • Provide Analysis and Reporting: Provide regular analysis and reporting, including information on backorders, service levels, inventory value, consignment levels, and actual vs. plan performance.
  • Support Action Plans: Support action plans to minimize excess and obsolete inventory.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Experience: 5 years of previous related experience is required.
  • Production Planning Experience: Experience in production planning, scheduling, purchasing, and logistics is required.
  • Regulated Industry Experience: Experience working in a medical device and/or regulated industry is required.
  • Fully Bilingual: Fully bilingual (English/Spanish) is required.

Additional Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite: Proven expertise in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • ERP Experience: Experience with ERP systems, such as JDE, is preferred.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, negotiating and relationship management skills are required.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills, strong analytical and statistical skills are required.
  • Material Requirements Planning: Solid knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) and inventory management programs, such as JIT/Kanban and Min/Max, is required.
  • Market and Economic Indicators: Solid knowledge of market and economic indicators, practices, and procurement procedures is required.
  • Attention to Detail: Strict attention to detail is required.
  • Team Environment: Ability to work in a team environment, including inter-departmental teams, representing the organization on specific projects, and vendors/suppliers is required.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships is required.
  • Objective Setting: Participates in determining objectives of assignment, plans schedules, and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives.
