The role of the Network Security Engineer at Css Corp is to serve as a primary point of contact for customers, responding to and resolving technical issues related to network security.

This involves extensive communication with customers and other engineers to understand and resolve problems. In the laboratory, we recreate reported issues using our knowledge of IP networking and network security principles to find solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive trouble cases from calls or web ticketing systems, manage case loads, and summarize ticket status for shift hand-off
  • Perform fault isolation steps, including Wire Shark analysis, flow basics, firewall status, and procedure repetition as needed; escalate to team leads when necessary
  • Utilize OSI model knowledge and data packet movement in networks to troubleshoot VLANs, ARP tables for L2/L3 mapping, and MAC-to-IP interfaces
  • Initiate ping and trace routes, analyze TCP headers, 3-way handshakes, sequence numbers, buffer capacity, and work from CLI, GUI, and/or CMD prompt interfaces to resolve customer issues

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent desired
  • High School Diploma minimum
  • CCNA certification required; CCNP or other certifications desired
  • 1-2 years of help desk experience in a call center environment (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of MPLS, BGP, OSPF, LSA status, peering start states, and packet tracing
  • Willingness/ability to work overtime to support customers
  • Excellent telephone communication skills; remain empathetic and courteous while discussing complex IT issues
  • Good written communication skills; type updates to trouble tickets with detailed troubleshooting comments and details
