The role of the Billing Manager is a critical one, as it supports the Customer Billing Mission Statement. To excel in this position, one must acquire subject matter expertise with a thorough understanding of complex business concepts, products, and business rules.

This includes having a deep grasp of fee agreements, pricing requirements, and process improvements. Under the supervision of the Customer Billing Leadership, the Billing Manager contributes to or leads projects and BAU activities that aim to improve processes, control procedural documentation, and measurements.

The role primarily focuses on supporting the global team on process and control-focused projects. The individual will be measured on successful implementation of specific initiatives and increase in operational and control effectiveness.

The Billing Manager works closely across departments in the Finance, Commercial, and GMO Organizations to simplify and improve processes and enhance controls.

  • Contribute to and/or lead process efficiencies by identifying root cause issues for pain points, measuring process performance, solving prioritized issues, identifying improvements, and increasing efficiency using Lean Six Sigma to reduce low-value-added tasks.
  • Oversee the delivery of invoices in a timely and accurate manner while meeting revenue control requirements, monitored via KPI measurements on a daily/weekly/monthly ad-hoc basis.
  • Contribute to building, maintaining, and operating a sustainable modern pricing, quoting, and billing infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain process and control documentation, dashboards, and reports. Work to ensure accuracy of underlying data.
  • Evaluate internal policy and procedure requirements by being aware of key controls, risks, and compensating controls within respective process flows and identify changes in the operating and internal controls environment.
  • Monitor all control processes to ensure they are operating as intended.
  • Develop and communicate the team's goals at the individual level for Analysts.
  • Regularly monitor progress, focus on compliance, and revise/document any changes in scope when needed.
  • Support the rollout of new and revised business processes by assisting in the review and revision of Operational Guidelines, metrics, and controls.
  • Build, maintain, and leverage excellent relationships with internal stakeholders, with particular emphasis on our Internal Customers.
  • Participate in and coordinate activities regionally in support of ad hoc projects.
  • Represent the Customer Billing team in internal meetings where applicable.
  • Assume ownership of specific process(es); lead, execute, and maintain.

To succeed in this role, one must possess an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other business disciplines and have 4+ years' experience performing in an Accounting, Auditing, or Billing environment.

A strong candidate will think critically, exercise sound judgment, and articulate their views effectively. They should be able to explore problems and opportunities proactively and provide solutions.

The ideal candidate will focus on results with a sense of urgency, demonstrate the ability to overcome obstacles, and bring issues to closure.

They should also be able to effectively compile and compare disparate pieces of information to support decision-making and complete work tasks efficiently and effectively.

Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity, take responsibility for actions/results, and be a collaborative team member willing to compromise.
