We are seeking a highly skilled Power Generation Solutions Expert to join our team at Emerson. As a key member of our excitation systems team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects and providing expert knowledge in generator excitation systems.
Responsibilities- Lead the supervision of generator excitation system assembly teams.
- Coordinate FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) for generator excitation systems.
- Prepare detailed installation documents, field terminal details, and cable schedules.
- Design electrical circuit drawings and mechanical layouts for generator excitation systems.
- Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials) for generator excitation systems.
- Create databases, control logics, and graphics for generator excitation systems.
- Perform heat-run tests, high-potential tests, and IR tests for generator excitation systems.
- Verify and calibrate I/O interfaces to field devices.
- Conduct on-site testing for dynamic performance of excitation control systems.
- Tune and optimize excitation control systems during start-up.
- Provide expertise in excitation control systems to management, product line engineers, and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with internal and customer safety and security requirements.
- Supervise excitation system retrofits and installations.
- Coordinated SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) and start-up of generator excitation systems.
- Prepare excitation servers/workstations.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is essential.
- A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in generator excitation systems is required.
- Experience in designing and commissioning brushless and static excitation systems is necessary.
- Familiarity with specifying excitation system designs to meet customer requirements.
- Experience in sizing and calculating power equipment and auxiliary components for generator excitation systems.
- Knowledge of de-excitation circuits for large turbine generators.
- Familiarity with electrical protection and synchronization processes for generators.
- Understanding of IEEE standards for excitation systems for large turbine generators.
- Proficiency in parameterization and commissioning of excitation systems.
- Experience working on high-power equipment.
- Sound knowledge of testing equipment for generator excitation systems.
- Familiarity with network configuration for fast Ethernet.
- Proficient in graphical languages for programmable logic controller design.
- Proficient in DCS/SCADA/PLC systems from various platforms.
- Understanding of electrical single-line diagrams, control circuits, and general arrangement drawings.
- Familiarity with designing software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN Electric, SmartDraw, Solid Edge, or SEE Electrical.
- Excellent language and communication skills.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and commissioning documents.
- Effective presentation and interpersonal skills.
