Job Overview
The GL & Cash Apps Lead reports directly to the RTR Manager and is responsible for ensuring accurate financial and statutory statements for local and US GAAP purposes.
This position oversees the completion, operational excellence, and quality of General Accounting and Cash Application.
The role involves monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing of all ledgers and financial statements according to company policy and delivering requested or required statutory or company-specific reports.
This position also organizes and trains accounting staff, monitors compliance with local regulations and US-GAAP standards, and drives standardization and continuous improvement of processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and manage the GL and Cash Application Team to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting, reporting, and objectives
- Manage recruitment activities, address performance problems, coach, and mentor employees, complete required HR processes
- Ensure all Financial Statements provide a true and fair view of the company's business, in compliance with USGAAP, local Statutory GAAP, and H.B. Fuller internal policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain accounting and financial controls to ensure accuracy, transparency, compliance, and effectiveness
- Prepare and approve all associated balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and approve journal entries as required
- Support the resolution of issues within reconciliations and accounting processes
- Perform FX exposure balance sheet analysis
- Analyze expenses and balance sheet accounts variance
- Support internal, external, and statutory audit requirements
- Ensure deep understanding and compliance of HBF policies across the team and with relevant colleagues and stakeholders
- Drive efficient, effective, accountable execution
- Support timely reporting of key financial information, monitor performance and quality of activities based on agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Participate in strategic continuous improvement initiatives, achieving identified goals (financial, process, or talent)
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the RTR Manager

Supervision
This role supervises two/three resources in GFS Costa Rica (Accountant Assistants: GL and Cash Apps).

Requirements
- Degree in Accounting (Business Administration)
- 4-6 years' experience in accounting-related fields
- Experience leading accounting teams is a plus
- IFRS deep knowledge
- ERP System experience - SAP Finance module
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Portuguese is highly desired
- Knowledge of SOX, compliance, and internal controls related to Financial Reporting
- Demonstrated leadership skills including talent and high-performance team development and people management skills
- Experience working in multinational companies and ideally within a Shared Service Center
- Continuous improvement skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, customer management skills, analytical, change management
- Accountability for Results - Translates goals/objectives into actionable plans and results and delivers to those plans
- Good communication, decision-making, and teamwork skills are required
