Role Overview:
The Software Sustaining Test Engineer will be an integral part of a small, highly effective product software testing team, reporting to a manager in Heredia. This role involves collaborating closely with test leads in an Agile environment to develop, debug, and refine test cases for continuous evaluation of current software features. The position encompasses a diverse range of software components, including user interfaces, algorithms, and backend data management.
Responsibilities may also include creating and executing test scripts, conducting unit tests, automating test script writing, and engaging with various electronic equipment in the laboratory. We seek an engineer with a robust computer science background or relevant software lifecycle experience to join our dynamic software testing team. Involvement in test automation will require proficiency in coding with Python or C++. Our toolkit includes Squish, Python, C++, Jira, Jenkins, and Linux.
This engineer will be tasked with maintaining and enhancing existing software systems, ensuring their functionality and performance. The focus will be on diagnosing and resolving software issues, improving code quality, and implementing features to extend the product lifecycle. Collaboration with test teams, including support and quality assurance, will be essential to ensure that software solutions meet user requirements and uphold high standards of reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute test cases to validate product quality by demonstrating system functionality and ensuring business and user requirements are met in the Electrophysiology domain.
- Create and execute automated test scripts.
- Debug and resolve issues in automated test scripts within their verification points.
- Address and rectify issues related to the automation framework.
- Conduct nightly Jenkins builds, continuously monitor performance builds, and collaborate with multiple scrum teams to address automation inquiries and analyze test results.
- Ensure that testing is conducted in accordance with established procedures.
- Document test outcomes and prepare test reports.
- Record and track defects in a bug tracking system.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in product quality testing.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or C++.
- Experience in test automation, including the design, development, and execution of automated test scripts.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Resume submission in English is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong experience in product quality and testing, preferably within the medical device or avionics industry.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- A quick learner capable of mastering complex software and adapting to new tools and technologies.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
