Job Summary
The Chief Steward is responsible for managing the daily kitchen utility operations and staff. This includes dish room operations, night cleaning, back dock cleaning and maintenance, banquet plating and food running. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality and be able to lead a team to achieve exceptional customer service and maintain a clean and efficient kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dish room
- Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure they are meeting the highest standards of customer service and food quality
- Coordinate banquet plating and food running with the Banquet Chef and Banquet Maitre'd
- Ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stocked
- Monitor and control inventory levels to ensure that the kitchen is running efficiently
- Develop and implement procedures to improve customer satisfaction and employee productivity
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 4 years of experience in the hospitality industry preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
