**About the job Senior Data Engineer**:
**The Role**:
As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in implementing, improving, and maintaining Looker across the company.
This includes partnering and consulting with the business and engineering teams to provide guidance and assistance in creating and streamlining Looker reports and underlying ETL pipelines.
Youll maintain our non-platform data infrastructure.
Our current stack is primarily Stitch Data, Big query, and Looker.
Youll report directly to our Director of Operations, youll also deeply partner with our CTO and Engineering stakeholders as your technical counterparts to help fulfill your initiatives.
**What You Will Do: **

Business Team Expectations
- Partner with the Engineering team in regard to the data sources, data warehouse, ETL, and any other supporting system or process for Looker.
- Partner with the business team leaders to translate business KPIs into Dashboards, Analysis, and reporting.
- Translate business requirements to actionable data tasks (English
SQL)

Looker Development
- LookML: Build LookML for new datasets and create the explores for different use cases including internal/external and accounts-based permissions
- Dashboards: Create looks and dashboards, including both standalone and embedded dashboards and integrations with internal & external data sources
- Tuning and Optimization: Optimize commonly-used dashboards as well as Looker server instances to minimize response time and improve user experience
- Best practices promote best practices with development of Looker dashboards and embedded visualizations in the user and developer community

ETL Upkeep
- Liaisons with the Engineering team in regard to the data sources, data warehouse, ETL, and any other supporting system or process for Looker.
- Stitch Data: Manage our Stitch Data configuration for maintain current data sources and adding additional data sources.
- Big Query: Manage our BQ which is the SQL database we use for our data lake.
**Main Stack**:

- Bachelor's or Masters degree in computer science or related discipline.
- 3-5 years of Looker development and BI analytics experience a must.
- 5-10 years of experience in BI development and analytics.
- Experience with Looker implementation is a must.
- Looker Software Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Proficiency in writing complex and performant SQL
- Expertise in database technologies (BQ) and working with large sets of data.
