**LOCATION**:Heredia, Costa Rica

**ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES**

The role is responsible for coordinating and monitoring timely and accurate reporting and payment of indirect tax liabilities.
The role will require technical tax and accounting knowledge with a thorough understanding of core processes related to indirect tax liabilities.
The position will also be responsible for areas of continuous process improvement.
The role will require excellent communication and business partnering skills across the entire organization.

**WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR**
- Ensure and monitor that all tasks are completed accurately and on a timely basis consistent with regulatory requirements and related Service Level Agreement (SLA) and participate and lead projects or complete ad hoc assignments as requested and coordinate and plan daily activities using effective time management principles
- Actively develop and maintain good working relationships with key commercial stakeholders and team members and actively search out areas for process improvement, identify any gaps in efficiency and effectiveness, and recommend improvements.
- Support any specific process improvement projects as requested and or assigned and ensure and monitor that transactions are documented by regulatory requirements.
- Responsible to ensure all SOX / operational and internal controls are followed and proactively assisting in providing information as needed during an audit and or review by internal audit and or external governmental authorities.
- Perform, coordinate and monitor the preparation and submission of monthly tax returns and payments for State and Local Excise taxes for all relevant jurisdictions and legal entities, also monthly sales and use tax returns and payments for all relevant jurisdictions and legal entities and of annual property tax listings and payments for all relevant jurisdictions and legal entities.
- Perform, coordinate, and monitor the collection of tax data for submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and payment of associated assessments for relevant legal entities and the review of Customs import entries prepared by the outside broker as needed and company preparation and payment of associated duties to U.S. Customs.
- Provide data and support as needed to assist with the Federal and state audits and provide support and analysis for special projects to subsidiaries and other entities as needed.
- Assist in the testing and validation of relevant tax and accounting systems and with the recruiting, development, and leadership of support from the Costa Rican Global Shared Service Center.

**ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE**
- 5+ years experience in a multinational company.
- 1 year of leadership experience
- 1+ Indirect tax
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business or the equivalent of 5 years of tax experience.
- Work proficient in written and verbal English.
- Good knowledge of ERPs, SAP preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting for indirect taxes, knowledge of various franchise taxes, gross margin, and or gross receipts taxes and knowledge of U.S. Federal income tax laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- High-quality customer service mindset.
- Teamwork

**BENEFICIAL**
- Master's in Business Administration or C.P.A.
(preferred).
- BPC knowledge, as knowledge of Alteryx data analytics platform, Knime data analytics and/or Vertix are desirable.
- Proficient in personal management methodologies.
- Knowledge in VBA or programming languages.
