We are currently looking for a dynamic individual as an Import Coordinator for our San Jose office in Costa Rica. This position will report to the Logistics Manager.
Job Scope
As the Import Coordinator your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Execute Routine Task Accountabilities: Use of SAP Transportation Module as system of record for incoming imports. Investigate, Request, and decipher information received from overseas regarding upcoming shipments to the US. Ensuring information is correct per documentation requirements. Relay the information to the broker where needed and ensure the Supply Chain stakeholders are informed of current status of shipments.
- Track and Trace: In areas where record keeping is necessary for track and trace purposes of imports, will be required to update and archive where appropriate, certain information regarding a shipment.
- Fulfill Responsibilities: Support the division’s requirements by ensuring arrive on time by requested delivery dates, all customs entries are filed and copies of shipping documents are distributed by required deadlines.
- Problem Solve and Investigate: Problem solving in a deadline driven operation involving different countries, time zones and cultures.
- Exception Management Adaptability: Ability to resolve problems not encountered before with no clear instructions on how to resolve, but there is willingness to find solution and conclude.
- Meet Regulatory and Compliance Standards: Has a key role in ensuring that the company is compliant with international trade agreements and customs legislation, particularly with the United States. When necessary, will raise any concerns to Huntsman Trade Compliance Management.
- Participates in High Performance Team Culture: Participates in team meetings and exchanges information with the team with respect and trust to promote unity. Backs up other team members and maintains an organized work space. Plans and coordinates vacation and time off with team and management to ensure work load is covered and team can operate efficiently.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in the above key accountabilities and responsibilities.
- Experience: In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, we will consider on a case-by-case basis significant supply chain-related (procurement, order fulfillment, planning, logistics) work experience (a minimum of 3 years) in supply chain that includes direct hands-on SAP experience.
- Working knowledge of Freight Forwarder or Brokerage Operations including the following: IATA, NVOCC, basic import/export regulations (AES), FMC, Clearance procedures.
- Understanding the preparation of IMO forms and hazardous regulations and SDS Sheets.
- Understanding of Import and Export Cargo Shipping Instructions, Certificates of Origin, Shipping Invoices, Bill of Lading and other relevant documentation is a requirement.
- Understanding of Duty Drawbacks.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office products especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- High ability to multitask and prioritize.
- SAP experience is a requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of banking procedures for letters of credit and draft collections is a plus.
- Recent Hazardous Certification is a plus.
- US VISA preferred to facilitate the knowledge transfer / training process.
