Job Function Summary
The Shipping Specialist manages specialized customs clearance activities related to Free Trade Zone companies in our Cartago Site. All import and export activities are coordinated by this position and has to develop and work with a vast network of stakeholders (i.e. custom brokers, shipping companies, planners, receiving subsidiaries, among others.
Major Areas of Accountability
Import activities
Receive information from suppliers regarding shipments.
Coordinate with warehouse coordinator dates to schedule containers arrival.
Coordinate with the Freight Forwarder and Custom Broker the loads.
Follow up daily for possible delays that can affect the supply of materials. Close collaboration and coordination with the Material Planner is expected.
Close transits in TICA system and ensure that documentation is correct.
Shipping activities
Coordinate with warehouse personnel the preparation of pallets.
Determine based on the production plan the shipping schedule for the next 4 weeks.
Follow up daily on the production volume to control when full container loads will be ready.
Invoice the shipments in the system.
Coordinate with the Freight Forwarder when to load the containers.
Follow up on each shipment and update the system with new/changed ETAs.
Responsible to open/close transits in TICA.
Customs
Responsible for all communication to Government Customs area.
Responsible to review and create reports that are relevant for the correct follow up.
Close contact with shipping about arrivals

Essential Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Customs Admiistration, International trade or Business Management or equivalent
3- 5 years experience in import/export
Proficient english level
3-5 years in Customs and Shipping roles
Must have manufacturing environment related experience
Experience in medical devices company is a plus
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Six Sigma or Lean certification is a plus
APICS is a plus
Analytical mindset
Proactive attitude
Outstanding coordination activities
