**MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE**
The EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Specialist I is the person responsible for the implementation and sustaining of all EHS programs according to local and external regulations. The resource must also be aligned with all regulations established by Abbott on the previously mentioned scopes.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Support the processes in order to formulate, implement, manage and improve ALL programs related with the Environmental, Health and Safety Scopes.
- Reports to Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Ill & Senior EHS Engineer on the performance of ALL EHS programs and routines.
- Communicates with internal EHS Supporting groups and EHS Departmental team to establish and achieve thetargets and objectives for ALL relevant EHS programs.
- Directly responsible of performing regular EHS inspections, supervision and audits.
- Provide support in the completion of documentation and reports (reporting, documentation, metrics on both verbal and written forms) required by the local and Federal regulatory agencies on the Safety and Health Scopes.
- Responsible of establishing and maintaining of all EHS programs.
- Establish and maintain the ergonomic program.
- Investigate EHS incidents and their prevention.
- Responsible for and has the authority to ensure that the Environmental Management System (EMS) is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 50001.
- Interface with the corporation to achieve necessary environmental goals and ensure site complies with local legislation.
- Effectively communicates EHS strategies, targets and objectives within Abbott.
- Ensures that required EHS training is provided for Abbott employees in a timely fashion.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with all EHS permits and licenses required for Abbott site operations.

Education Level Major/Field of Study
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- EHS Technician; EHS Inspector with relevant/certified/proven experience within the field.
- EHS Engineering, Safety and Occupational Health, Safety Engineering,, Environmental Management.

Experience, Details
- 1-3+ years’ experience developing EHS policies and procedures in Occupational Health, Safety and ergonomics areas and assuring their alignment with governmental regulations.
- Experience with emergency response, life safety and the proper handling of biological and industrial waste materials.
- Use PowerPoint, Excel spreadsheets, and/or Microsoft Project.
- Must have knowledge in OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, INTECO and ISO 14001, ISO
- 50001 standards.
- Language Proficiency - Intermediate Commands of English / Required
- Preferred Qualifications &
- Education - Knowledge in storage and handling of industrial gases is preferred.
