Data Scientist: Advanced Analytics

**Introduction**
As a Data Scientist at IBM, you will help transform our clients’ data into tangible business value by analyzing information, communicating outcomes and collaborating on product development. Work with Best in Class open source and visual tools, along with the most flexible and scalable deployment options. Whether it’s investigating patient trends or weather patterns, you will work to solve real world problems for the industries transforming how we live.
**Your Role and Responsibilities**
Combines deep data and analytics skills with strong business acumen to solve business problems by understanding, preparing, and analyzing data to predict emerging trends and provide recommendations to optimize business results.
Your primary responsibilities include:
- Working with business leaders to solve business problems by understanding, preparing, and analyzing data to predict emerging trends and provide recommendations to optimize business results
- Proposing techniques to improve research quality and team productivity.
- Guiding, training, and advising junior researchers and students, and supporting senior research staff.
- Developing and following standard operating procedures, and adhering to company policies and safety guidelines
- Developing objectives and designing research projects and proposals.
- Formulating and conducting scientific experiments, performing data collection, and analyzing and evaluating test and research results.
**Required Technical and Professional Expertise**
- 1-4 years of experience in an OR scientist role (5-10 years for Senior Data Scientist)
- Deep knowledge of operations research, integer programming, network optimization, large scale optimization, and simulation.
- Experience with Python, software engineering, algorithms, and data structures.
- Experience with commercial solvers including Fico Xpress, Cplex, or Gurobi.
- Experience working with querying large data sets, SQL, PySpark.
- Experience in using statistical analysis software packages
**Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise**
- Knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods.
- Knowledge of scientific laboratory research techniques.
- Experience in Travel & Transportation
- Computer literacy and strong mathematical, analytical, and research skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
