We are seeking a skilled UX Researcher with a passion for deep research. If you love researching and solving real-world problems to making customers happy, come and be part of our design team.

You

You have 3+ years of conducting user experience research for digital products. You have expertise in a wide range of research tools and methodologies. You love working with designers, business stakeholders, and software developers. You are interested in being part of a fast-paced, growing team and have a knack for solving problems to address the challenges in the online gaming industry.

Us

Located in both San Jose, Costa Rica and Montreal, Canada, we are a small but dedicated Marketing and Design Department servicing a large and established US-facing product entertainment group. We have a range of software entertainment solutions targeted at US Sports fans.

Our goal is to improve our digital products and experiences and make them the envy of the industry we work for.
What you will be doing
As a UX Researcher in our Product Design team, you will carry out thoughtful research, and make sure the findings are shaping what we do.
Research, Synthesize, and Inform
- Support designers with user/usability testing their prototypes and designs
- Recruit end-users for user research activities
- Define and refine user models (e.g. personas), journey maps, process flows
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research from start to finish. This means planning, conducting (interviews, user surveys, card sorting, tree testing, remote/in-person moderated and unmoderated studies, etc.), and summarizing conclusions.
- Find, consume, and understand existing research, and news (industry, usability, design, etc.)
- Create usable artifacts, and document your research so its accessible to others (at present or in future)
- Collaborate & Share Insights
- Work with product and design team to identify research topics
- Help design team absorb insights and learnings, so they incorporate it into their design process
- Work closely with data teams to extract and synthesize data and effectively communicate the insights to design and other teams
- Interview stakeholders to gain insights from their experience

Collaborate, Strategize, and Influence
- Create research plans that align with business goals and roadmaps
- Vary your tactics on how you share insights and learnings with stakeholders
- You will be the thought leader for user research. Youll own our research process and help it mature and grow
- Advocate for the users needs
- Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs
- Work with business intelligence teams to generate deep insights by mixing quantitative data with your qualitative findings
- Lead workshops to build consensus balancing research findings, goals, and user needs
- Help stakeholders measure the success of products

What wed like to see in you
- A minimum 3+ years of relevant user research experience in a digital product-focused setting.
- Degree(s) in design, anthropology, human factors, psychology, human-computer interaction, behavioral science, cognitive science, other social sciences, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- You are an expert at conducting qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods studies to deepen understanding of the user and drive product strategy.
- You like to advocate for user research to people unfamiliar with it.
- You can prioritize research needs and approaches based on product and area, because you have a strong understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of different research methods.
- You are stellar in collaborating with colleagues/stakeholders and defining long-term strategies vs short term tactics as appropriate. And youve demonstrated working with partners from diverse areas of a company.
- You can envision and facilitate research initiatives from scratch after identifying gaps in knowledge.
- You are very good at working with data (ability to query is a bonus).
- You can identify areas of improvement across a product.
- You are an expert communicator with ability to make it easy for all stakeholders to digest research. This often means explaining complex research in a clear and concise manner.
- You are an expert moderator.
- You have great interpersonal skills, and find it easy to work with a broad range of personalities.
- You work independently, lead your own research, and collaborate as needed.
- You are great at balancing time between various demands.

Bonus Skills:

- Experience with market research
- Experience with transactional user facing products (like eCommerce)
- Database querying experience (e.g. SQL)
- Your resume and any extra info thats relevant
- Case studies or a portfolio of work demonstrating your research skills in a product setting. If you dont have it in a case study format, we can discuss an alternative artifacts/approach that demonstrates your past experience.
