Role Responsibilities:

1. Project Management (25%)

  • Plan, track, and manage delivery of projects across Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, and Data Science teams.
  • Create project plans with timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and blockers, and proactively address them.
  • Provide regular project status updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment between team deliverables and business goals.

2. Scrum Master (25%)

  • Facilitate agile ceremonies for the data teams (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming).
  • Promote agile best practices and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Ensure teams are adhering to agile practices, sprint goals and timelines.
  • Remove impediments and foster collaboration between sub-teams.
  • Coach team members on agile methodologies and principles.

3. Business Analyst (50%)

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document functional requirements for data projects.
  • Translate functional requirements into technical specifications and user stories in Jira.
  • Ensure requirements are clear, complete, and actionable for the technical teams.
  • Work closely with the Data Engineering, BI, and Data Science teams to verify that deliverables meet stakeholder needs.
  • Conduct gap analysis and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience in project management, agile facilitation, or business analysis, ideally with data teams.
  • High proficiency in English.
  • Strong proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project) and agile methodologies.
  • Experience documenting functional requirements and translating them into actionable technical specifications.
  • Proven success in coordinating analysis sessions with technical team members
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members on agile methodologies and best practices
  • Familiarity with data workflows, Cloud concepts, BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and machine learning concepts (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business conversations and work collaboratively across teams and departments.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and resolving blockers.

Preferred Experience/Certifications

  • Experience working directly with Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Data Science teams is highly preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).
  • Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or equivalent is a plus.

Structure On-Boarding Process

Phase 1: Scrum Master + Project Manager Focus (First 3–6 Months)

Initially prioritize Scrum Master and Project Manager responsibilities to ensure agile processes are running smoothly and projects are delivered effectively.

During this phase, the individual can focus on facilitating agile ceremonies, managing project timelines, and reporting project status.

Phase 2: Add Business Analyst Responsibilities (After 6 Months)

Once the individual is comfortable with team dynamics and delivery processes, introduce the Business Analyst responsibilities.

They can start collaborating with stakeholders to refine requirements and work on converting functional requirements into technical user stories.

Phase 3: Full Role Integration (12 Months+)

By this point, the individual should be fully integrated into the role, balancing the three areas of responsibility effectively. Consider providing training or mentorship to help them grow into the BA responsibilities if needed.
